We lived not far from the Fletcher Jones gardens when we were kids and we used to go there all the time for picnics or just to go play there with our friends. The gardens are being brought back to life by the present owner after being neglected for many years and in those bad years it was the effort of volunteers from our community that kept them 'alive'. I love that the public still feel free to wander in these privately owned gardens that were originally created by Fletcher Jones for his workers and for the public. We did this picture to celebrate that link with the gardens that are pretty special in our town and family history. The first picture is from our family slide collection taken in the 1960s and the second is taken over 50years later in 2015. We tried to stand in the same spot although lots of things have changed in those 50 years. Julie Eagles
