David Fletcher Jones was the youngest son of Fletcher Jones. He worked with his father and was involved in the business for 40 years, the last 12 as Managing Director.
In 2005, David compiled the slide show you will find below of the development of the Pleasant Hill factory and gardens from 1947-2005 . It is his voice we hear in the commentary and he took some of the photographs. It is a fascinating glimpse and record of the changes to the site over time. Perhaps strangley it is mostly black and white photos though there were many colour photographs and postcards of much of this era. You will find many other colour photos elsewhere on this site.
It appears that David made this slide show and commentary at the time when a Conservation Management Plan was being drawn up under the site ownership of Warrnambool City Council - leading towards State Heritage Listing of key elements of the site in 2016.
The FJ site underwent a lot of change from 1947 till the late 70s, the time when Fletcher Jones died. After this period, and up till 2005, when the factory closed, the site had little further development. David had strong views about conservation priorities for the site.
