A group of artists salvaged materials, coat hangers and patterns in 2007 from the old Fletcher Jones factory in Warrnambool as they were being loaded into trucks to be dumped. The factory closed in 2005 and was sold in 2007. A community arts collective called The F project formed in 2008, drawing inspiration from the values of Fletcher Jones and his support for the arts. The salvaged Fletcher Jones fabric and clothing have been repurposed in annual community art events ever since to raise money for The F project who also lead the organisation of annual Christmas picnics in the FJ gardens that are a community celebration of our connection and love of FJs in Warrnambool.
