In 1931, FJ opened 'The Man's Shop' at the corner of Liebig and Koroit St in Warrnambool with bespoke tailoring room upstairs. In this era, FJ started to specialise in ready-to-wear trousers as 'fill in' production in his tailoring business. FJ operated from this building until he purchased the Pleasant Hill site in 1947 to cope with the need for expanded production space. The Man's Shop building still stands in Warrnambool today.
