In honour of Arnold McKay, who took these photos the day the ball went up in 1967. Arnold was a sewing machine mechanic for 25 years at Fletcher Jones and he took these photos as an amateur photographer recording the event.  Other professional photographers were also present as you see from Arnold's photos though so far we have not found those photos.  However, Arnold certainly had a good eye and his photographs are beautiful.  These were among the first photographs we posted on the Save the Silver Ball and Fletcher's Gardens Facebook Page and they generated lots of interest.
